Weekly Class Liturgy

The children really enjoy planning their weekly Liturgy in Year 5. We discuss together and choose how they would like to 'Gather', what 'Word' we should read from the Bible, our 'Response' and our 'Mission'. Our class chaplains help us each week by reading the Church's theme from the ORDO.

We are creative

First we designed our amphorae, then we made then using clay. When they were dry we painted them and finally we added a picture of a Greek god or goddess. We are really proud of our finished work.

We are potters

We are really enjoying learning about the Ancient Greeks. In DT we designed an amphora, or clay pot and then made it using coils of clay. We look forward to decorating them when they have dried.

We are archaeologists

Our new topic is the Ancient Greeks. In English we are reading Greek myths and in history we investigated the role of archaeologists in helping us to understand the past. We sifted through the sand to find buried artefacts. The hot task we did at the end of the lesson shows that we learned lots about how the Ancient Greeks lived.
