The Chaplaincy Team

Father Vitalis came in to welcome and bless our Chaplaincy Team to their new role for this year.

Chaplaincy Retreat Day

The Chaplaincy team were invited to a retreat day at St Patricks church on Monday 6th October. Itwas calm, peaceful day full of reflection.

Read what they had to say about it:

“I saw different schools, we all gathered into one room as one team. We all got a chance toparticipate in different activities. Being a chaplain gave me the opportunity to be a valuedmember of the team. I feel cherished and loved.”

Chaplaincy Action Plan

Following on from the retreat day at St Patrick’s church, the Chaplains decided on some actions that they would like to carry out in school as part of their chaplaincy role. They have already started to focus on Action 1 and have already started these lovely sessions.

Action 1:  Looking at leadership and pupil engagement.

As decided during the retreat, the Chaplains read some Bible stories to the F2 children. The chaplains chose appropriate stories suitable for this age group and read to them. This showed initiative and leadership but also lovely pupil engagement from some of our youngest children in school. This will continue as the year goes on.

As well as reading with F2, the Chaplains thought it would be a lovely idea recite the rosary in the prayer garden. They wanted to start this in the month of October and during the theme week of the Rosary as they think it is important for our children to find the calmness that comes through prayer.

Chaplaincy leadership and engagement is just one element of their action plan for the year. As a school we look forward to what else they have planned for us.
