Advent 2026
Parent Prayer and Liturgy
Thank you to all the parents and family members who joined us for our Prayer and Liturgy Service. Together, we reflected on the important message that holiness is not just for saints or priests, but a calling for each and every one of us. Through prayer, scripture, and reflection, we explored how holiness means striving to live each day with God’s love and goodness at the centre of our thoughts, words, and actions. While none of us are perfect, we are all invited to grow in faith, supported by prayer, the sacraments, and our school and parish community. It was wonderful to share this special time together and celebrate the journey of faith we are all called to make.
Harvest Collection
Elm Class led us in a beautiful whole school Harvest Liturgy. Our donations were collected by the charity Open Hands, which supports people in need in Leicester with emergency practical help, skills training, and mentoring. One of the volunteers from Open Hands came to join us during our liturgy and shared information about the support they give.
Dear Lord, We give thanks for the food we share and ask your blessing on those who grow, harvest and prepare it. Inspire us to act for the good of our neighbours, especially those who do not have plentiful food.

Whole school Mass to start our new school year.
Fr David led our first whole school mass of the year. It was a wonderful celebration welcoming the whole school community back together to start another successful year of learning, growing and keeping the spirit of God alive in our community.
Year 6 – Outreach
Ash Class led our whole school prayer and liturgy around Outreach. Our mission to go out and make others smile was definitely seen with the joy that the singing gave to us all, it was beautiful to hear the whole school joining together in song.

Almsgiving
This weeks collective worship was planned and led by Poplar Class on the theme of Almsgiving.
Class Liturgy – Transfiguration.
Our class Liturgies this week were centred around the Transfiguration. The children planned and led the liturgy for each class.
St Thomas Aquinas Feast Day
On Wednesday, 28th January, children from Sacred Heart joined other schools from the Trust to celebrate the Trust Feast Day at English Martyrs. The day was filled with various activities led by our Lead Lay Chaplain, Tom, along with members of the St Vincent De Paul Society and other Trust Chaplaincy teams. A special Mass was celebrated by Fr Simon, where he focused on the theme of HOPE. This was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to pause, reflect, and remember the importance of our faith, our community, and the collaborative work we do across the Trust.
Advent
Year 3 Christmas Carol Service
Our Year 3 children performed the story of Christmas in a beautiful carol service, delighting both parents and the whole school. The children sang, performed, and read with great enthusiasm, capturing the true meaning of Christmas. We were fortunate to have Fr David and member of our Governing body join us with Fr David offering a special blessing, reminding us of the joy and hope that this season brings. The service was a wonderful celebration of faith, community, and the spirit of giving.
We were delighted to welcome the Travelling Crib as it made its way around the Trust schools. The crib serves as a gentle reminder of the humble beginnings of Jesus’ birth and encourages us to think of those who are misplaced in the world today. Our time spent in worship and community has allowed us to deepen our understanding of the season, encouraging us to cherish every moment as we prepare for the birth of Jesus. Let us carry forward the lessons of kindness, compassion, and charity that we have discussed, and keep the spirit of Advent alive in our hearts, sharing joy and goodwill with all.
Advent 2025 at Sacred Heart
This Advent, our school community came together in a beautiful whole school mass, where we reflected on the true significance of Christmas. In the spirit of this sacred season, we remembered the journey of Mary and Joseph, and how we too can embark on a journey of hope and love. A highlight of our Advent celebrations was the delightful carol service led by our Year 3 children. In Isaiah 2: 1-5, the prophet shares a vision of peace and hope. He describes a time when people will come together to learn about God and live in harmony. This message is perfect for Christmas, reminding children that kindness and sharing bring joy to the world.
Remembrance Day Whole School Liturgy
Maple Class had the honour of leading the school in a respectful and reflective Remembrance Day collective worship. During this poignant gathering, we were all reminded of the sacrifices made by countless individuals for our safety and freedom. Through their prayers and readings, we reflected on the importance of remembering these sacrifices, ensuring that they are never forgotten. We were reminded by Maple class that at times of disagreement, it is crucial to look forwards to understand and encourage one another. More importantly, we must remember how Jesus calls us to remember so that we can move on with compassion and love, healing from previous wounds.
