Sacred Heart School Council

At Sacred Heart, our School Council provides a meaningful and active way for pupils to share their ideas, express their opinions, and play an important role in shaping the school community. We believe that every child’s voice matters, the School Council ensures these voices are heard and respected in decisions that impact school life. Our Council is made up of one representative from each class, Year 3 upwards.

School Councillors act as role models, showing younger pupils how to behave and how to live out our mission each day. They attend regular meetings where they gather, share, and discuss the views of their classes, offering suggestions on how learning, play, wellbeing, and the school environment can continue to improve. Councillors also help welcome visitors, support school events, and lead assemblies.

The Sacred Heart School Council aims to:

  • Help pupils develop important life skills such as communication, teamwork, confidence, and decision-making.
  • Provide real-life opportunities for children to learn about democracy, responsibility, and leadership.
  • Encourage pupils to be active contributors to school life, knowing their ideas are valued and can bring positive change.
  • Work closely with teachers and senior leaders to enhance the Sacred Heart experience for every child.

Sacred Heart Anti-Bullying Champions

At Sacred Heart, we believe that every child has the right to feel safe, respected, and valued. Our Anti-Bullying Champions play a vital role in helping us build a caring, inclusive school where kindness is at the centre of everything we do.

Our Anti-Bullying Champions are pupils who have shown responsibility, empathy, and a strong desire to make Sacred Heart a place where everyone feels welcome. They receive guidance to help them understand what bullying is, how to recognise it, and how to support others in seeking help.

They work closely with staff to promote positive relationships across the school and take part in activities that help raise awareness about kindness, online safety, friendship, and respect. They help lead assemblies, create posters and campaigns, and offer guidance to their peers.

The aims of the Anti-Bullying Champions at Sacred Heart are to:

  • Promote a culture of kindness, respect, and inclusion throughout the school.
  • Help pupils understand what bullying is and what to do if they experience or witness it.
  • Encourage children to speak out confidently, knowing that their concerns will be listened to.
  • Support pupils who may feel worried or isolated, helping them seek help from trusted adults.
  • Work alongside staff and the School Council to develop a safe, positive environment where every child feels valued.

  • Promote teamwork, fairness, and good sportsmanship.
